Risk assessment

As a pair my partner and I had to carry out a risk assessment. The purpose of making a risk assessment table is to alert us of all the potential risks which can occur during filming. By making one ensured my partner and I were aware of all the dangers we faced from our chosen locations.

Hazard and risk
Action
Location 1 - Bedroom
As we are filming in a bedroom there is a risk of tripping over objects such as wires, filming equipment and loose objects. To prevent this risk from happening we will insure everyone is aware of were the wires are located in the bedroom. Also we will make sure the room is tidy before we film as it will keep us more organised and prevent any further hazards from happening.
Location 2 - Marlow train station
Out of the risk assessment table the train station is our biggest concern. To make sure we are all safe during filming we keep a safe distance from the platform as train approaches and leaves the station.
Location 3 - Marlow river
Like the train station platform we will also make sure we keep a safe distance from the river when using the filming equipment. At one point during production our actress Summer is planned to release paper boats into the river, as she will be filmed doing this she'll need to keep a steady balance to ensure she doesn't fall into the river
The public
Before filming we will inform as many members of the public as to why we are filming. However, if they wish to not be filmed we will patiently wait till they have passed.
Filming equipment
Filming equipment will need to be monitored at all time as it is school property. As we are filming during autumn/winter weather conditions the weather will be unpredictable meaning we will have to come prepared with umbrellas.

Audience feedback from pitch

  • Animatronic storyboard - "The video was clear and well constructed. However, the constant repetition of the same shots makes the message of the song less meaningful. To show your full understanding of star image maybe researching into more RMA's will help with presenting the narrative".
  • Song choice - "The song was a perfect match for your genre (indie pop). I think you have gone with the right decision of choosing a narrative and performance based music video as you will be able to explore matching lyrics to performance".
  • Story line - "Your story line is structured and easy to understand. However, the changes I would suggest is to make it one sided, show more shots of the girl! I believe by doing this star image will become more apparent to the audience. I also think you should scrap the text message idea as it's too cliche".
  • Location - "Choosing a local location for filming was a smart move as it'll allow you the opportunity of re shooting if anything is to go wrong. I especially like the fact you are enforcing the separation of the relationship through different locations. When filming outside you need to think out change in weather and how it may affect your filming".
  • props - " My favourite prop has to be the paper boats. There original and unique. From just looking at them I can tell a lot of research has been put into it as the meaning behind them is powerful and important to the song. Without the boats the story line would be boring as they create enigma. Perhaps you should try testing out the paper boats in water to see how long they last for, so you are more prepared when it comes to filming".
  • Casting - "My main concern is it may be a little awkward when filming the cast together as it appears Summer and Fraser don't know each other well. However, from what you have presented it seems that they have confident personalities which will make a massive impact in their overall performance. I like that your inspiration for the music video and casting is different as it's from a film and not another music video. The video you have shared of your inspiration has been very helpful when envisioning the look you are trying to achieve".
  • Costume - "The costume choices represent your gene well as you have present research into bands and artists of the same genre. I think it is important that the boy wears dull/dark colours to enforce the idea of star image on the girl".
  • Hair and makeup - "Like costumes, hair and makeup are also well suited for your genre. The fact you have kept the makeup simplistic will allow the target audience to make an association to the product. The simplicity will also save time as it will be easy to redo if you are in need of re shooting".
  • Digipak and promotional poster - " I can tell a lot of hard work has gone into finalising the digipak and promotional poster as they have both been coloured in and annotated. The front cover of the digipak defiantly demonstrates star image as the head shot draws your full attention to the artist. Although ,I'm unsure on the red boat being the inside panel as the album is meant promote the release of all of her songs. Moving onto the promotional poster, I like that you have made it similar to the digipak so the audience familiarizes with the artist which enforces artist recognition/star image".
Receiving feedback from our focus group on our audience pitch was more than helpful for my partner and I as it gave us the opportunity on hearing the positives and negatives about what we are planning on producing.

Animatronic storyboard

Feedback:
"I noticed some of the shots you have used are a little different from your original storyboard but the fact you have use colour shows your development when planning. I am really impressed with what you have produced. However, I would suggest you try using more shots especially of the girl to create and show your understanding star image. Watching your animatronic storyboard really brings your idea to life, I am interested on see what you final product will become".

Storyboard

Feedback:
"Your storyboard is clear and consistent, I think the story line you have chosen fits the song choice really well as I would have imagined it to have been about a relationship. I think it is important that you have chosen to repeat the same mid shot of the girl singing as will allow the target audience to make an association with her. As you have chosen a slow pace song maybe you should try slowing down the shots and transitions during production. Overall i'm excited to see the final product!".
